Hit-Air Vests: How Hit-Air Works & Set Up Tips
In the world of equestrian sports, safety is paramount. Every rider understands the risks involved. Accidents can happen unexpectedly, whether you're a seasoned rider or just learning. That's where Hit-Air comes in—a revolutionary airbag system designed to provide immediate protection to riders in the event of a fall or crash.
Immediate Protection Where & When It Counts
The Hit-Air airbag is engineered to safeguard vital areas of the rider's body, including the neck, back, chest, and sides. In the unfortunate event of being thrown from the horse, the airbag instantly inflates, creating a cushioning barrier between the rider and the impact.
How It Works
The shock-buffering protection system activates instantly when the distance between the rider and the saddle exceeds the "Activation Distance." This triggers the release of CO2 gas into the airbags, inflating them rapidly to absorb the force of the impact.
After the airbag is inflated fully, the gas leaks slowly through the gas release valve, and a feeling of tightness will subside gradually.
The key ball requires considerable strength (30-35kg) to be pulled out and will not be released easily because of the elastic nature of the coiled wire during normal riding conditions, including standing in the stirrups. Should the rider forget to disconnect, he will feel a pulling force that will not be strong enough to activate the airbag system but could remind him that he has forgotten to use the one-touch release.
Easy to Use, Easy to Reuse
Hit-Air Vests are designed for convenience and reliability. With one-touch release connectors, connecting and disconnecting the system when getting on and off the horse is effortless. Even if a rider forgets to disconnect, the system provides a gentle reminder without compromising safety.
Using the One-touch Release
- Connect the male connector at the end of the coiled wire attached to the saddle with the female connector attached to the key ball in the key box.
- Hold the female connector and insert the male one. A clicking sound confirms that a connection has been made. Pull the male connector lightly to ensure the connection has been made correctly.
- If you have difficulty making the connection, clean the two connector parts thoroughly to ensure no dirt or foreign objects are lodged there.
NOTE: If the insertion is not easy, replace the connector parts. Forceful insertion may cause the one-touch release to malfunction.
Connecting the Saddle Strap
Remove stirrup leathers from metal stirrup bars. Attach nylon loops around metal stirrup bar, one on each side. The saddle strap sits in front of saddle and is firmly connected to the saddle with the stirrup bars, like an anchor. Clip the bungee lanyard as directed above, and your vest is ready for use.
Tips for Reassembly
After deployment, your Hit-Air can be reused multiple times by replacing the CO2 cartridge.
- Inspect your Hit-Air vest to ensure there is no damage.
- To replace the CO2 cartridge, twist it into the bottom of the key box until it cannot be twisted further.
- Ensuring a proper seal allows a needle in the “key box” to puncture the seal of the CO2 cartridge upon activation. Otherwise, the Hit-Air may not be appropriately activated.
